Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung e.V., Germany
Due to growing global demand for water-intensive agricultural products water stress levels in many parts of the world are threatened to rise, affecting food security, economic development and human rights. Researchers from Technical University of Berlin present an analysis of virtual water flows from water stressed countries into the European Union/ Germany. Ways to confront this urgent challenge will be discussed with the Deputy Director of the Land and Water Division of FAO, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human right to water and sanitation (tbc) and NGOs working with affected communities worldwide. Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung e.V. along with its partner Ecumenical Water Network of World Council of Churches will be the key organisers of this event.
